Lisa, the Executive Director, leads with vision and compassion, ensuring that Wellness House continues to thrive as a sanctuary for those facing serious illnesses. Amy, the Program Director, skillfully coordinates a variety of services and activities that empower clients to embrace wellness and hope on their journeys. Erica, our Bilingual Advocate, plays a vital role in bridging language barriers, offering personalized support to Spanish-speaking clients and ensuring inclusive access to all programs. Together, this team creates a nurturing, welcoming environment where every individual feels valued and supported.

Amy Zook

Amy Zook is the Program Director and Counselor at Wellness House, and has worked here since 2008, beginning her career as a volunteer in 2007, and intern in January of 2008 and being hired in April of that same year. She earned her MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University after obtaining her bachelor’s degree in human development with a minor in Psychology from Washington State University. She has since become a Peak States Therapist and Trauma Therapist and earned a certificate in functional medicine and mental health. Her love of serving others stems from her own past health challenges that were a springboard for overall wellness, and she chose to change careers to help others achieve the same. Prior to her career change, she co-owned a machinery manufacturing company and other small businesses including a life coaching business.

Janette Garcia

As a cancer survivor herself, Janette brings a deep sense of purpose, personal understanding, and compassion to her work. She is especially passionate about meeting individuals and families on their cancer journey exactly where they are, offering support that is rooted in empathy, dignity, and hope.

Janette serves our Spanish-speaking community with warmth and respect, helping clients navigate resources, support services, and the emotional challenges that often accompany cancer and serious illness. She believes this role is more than a job—it is about healing, meaningful connection, and reminding each person that they are never alone.

Janette considers the Yakima Valley her home and is deeply committed to giving back to the community that has shaped her. She is a proud mother of two children and enjoys outdoor activities, exploring local wineries, and spending quality time with family and friends.

We are grateful to have Janette on our team and for the compassion and lived experience she brings to Wellness House.

Shelby Anderson

Shelby Anderson is a dedicated wellness coach and registered nurse with over 23 years of diverse clinical experience. She grew up in Northern Alberta on a 2,000-acre ranch, an upbringing that shaped her resilience, compassion, and deep connection to nature. In 1999, Shelby moved to  Wisconsin with family and later relocated to Yakima in 2011, where she spent many years serving the community as a Home Hospice RN, an experience that solidified her passion for guiding individuals through life’s most challenging transitions.

Throughout her nursing career, Shelby has worked across a wide range of clinical settings, including psychiatric nursing, chemotherapy and oncology care, medical-surgical nursing, triage, cardiac stress testing, and pain management clinics. This broad clinical background allows her to bring a well-rounded, informed, and compassionate perspective to her work, particularly when supporting individuals navigating grief, cancer, chronic illness, anxiety, burnout, and emotional overwhelm.

 

Shelby’s holistic, client-centered approach integrates prayer, mindfulness, meditation, and thoughtful coaching practices to support emotional balance, self-awareness, and meaningful personal growth. She empowers individuals to reconnect with their inner strengths, process complex emotions, and move forward with clarity and resilience.

 

Shelby is the wife of a supportive husband, a mother of four including identical twin sons and a proud grandmother to seven. Outside of her professional work, she enjoys reading, gardening, and spending time in nature, which continue to ground and inspire her approach to wellness and healing.

Lisa kapuza

Born and raised in Michigan, Lisa graduated from Michigan State University, where she developed a passion for learning, empowering people and community service. Now residing in Yakima, Washington, Lisa is married to John Kapuza, a respected local attorney. Together, they have nurtured a loving family with five wonderful adult children along with two beautiful Old English Sheepdogs.

Lisa is deeply passionate about helping people. She finds great fulfillment in her involvement with Wellness House, a place she adores for its holistic approach to health and wellness. For Lisa, Wellness House is a sanctuary that brings the mind, body, and soul together, promoting a totality of health and wellness.  

In her personal time, Lisa enjoys a diverse range of interests, from cheering on the Buffalo Bills and exploring the rich flavors of bourbon, to immersing herself in the timeless music of Pearl Jam. She also has a deep love for outdoor adventures and spending time with John at their cabin in the woods.

Early Life:

I grew up in the beautiful Yakima Valley in Gleed, surrounded by orchards. As a kid I was always involved in music in school, whether that be band, choir, solos, chorography or musicals, I did it and I loved it!

 

Important Life Events:

My husband Trevor and I have been married for 16 years this August. We have 4 kids and live in the country with our 2 dogs and lots of chickens!

Stay at Home Mom for 11 years

Stage 3 Breast Cancer Survivor (7 years cancer free!)

Built a thriving career working with cancer survivors to support their own specific exercise needs. 

 

Fun Fact:

This spring I went on a trip with other young adult cancer survivors. We spent the week learning how to whitewater kayak. It was one of the best weeks of my life. Adventure and community both have been so important for me as I go forward as a survivor.

cASEY SMITH

Casey Smith serves as the Program Coordinator and Wellness House Counselor, where she supports individuals and families navigating a diagnosis of cancer and other life-altering illness through education, compassion, and practical lifestyle support. She is continuing her academic training in Psychology with an emphasis in Life Coaching through Liberty University and is a Certified Functional Nutritional Practitioner, Certified Advanced Life Coach, and Certified Health & Wellness Coach.

A Montana native, Casey moved to Selah nearly seven years ago and is a wife and mother of three beautiful children. Outside of her professional work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, painting and pottery, and being out in nature, activities that reflect her belief in creativity, connection, and balance as essential components of well-being.

Casey brings a diverse and people centered professional background. Prior to transitioning into psychology and wellness, she spent 28 years as a hairstylist, developing deep listening skills and a strong appreciation for the personal stories people carry. She also briefly studied law and worked in prosecution before changing her major to psychology experiences that strengthened her understanding of human behavior, advocacy, and complex life systems.

With professional experience in addiction and recovery, Casey is currently pursuing advanced training in Neuro-Nutrition the study of how nutrients and dietary patterns influence the structure and function of your brain. Her passion lies in helping individuals understand how disturbances in metabolism can directly affect brain function, mood, resilience, and disease prevention.

Her work centers on helping people break through negative thought patterns and limiting beliefs, while developing practical, sustainable strategies for stress management, sleep support, nutrition, movement, and lifestyle habits that support both mental and physical health.

Casey earned her Advanced Life Coach and Health & Wellness Coach certifications through the AACC, completed through Liberty University. She completed her Functional Nutritional Practitioner certification through the Functional Nutritional Alliance.

Through education, encouragement, and evidence informed practices, Casey is passionate about empowering individuals to build resilience, restore balance, and thrive.
